Sheffield SIFE (Sheffield Students in Free Enterprise) is a society, based at the University of Sheffield, which through both social and commercial projects, aims to harness students entrepreneurial and volunteering spirit to make a difference in the Sheffield community and around the world. We have 117 students working on over 20 life changing projects which together have made an impact on the lives of 1,631 and raised over £28,000 for our society.
Our projects include helping a group of visually impaired children to run their own company, helping 4 impoverished communities in rural Ghana, helping the homeless across Sheffield and running an array of our own commercial revenue-generating businesses, which make money for SIFE and the students involved.
Students are involved in the planning, management and running of each project. Each team runs its own meetings, decides on plans of action and balances its own finances. If you join you'll be working as part of a real business as Sheffield SIFE is a registered limited company. This helps students gain vital real world business experience and life skills essential for when you graduate. Plus, top recruiters know about the high quality of SIFE students so it'll be great for your CV.
We want to promote entrepreneurship across all of Sheffield, and we welcome students from all departments at both Universities. Our teams consist of students from a broad range of degree courses, from 1st year Linguistics to Post Graduate Computer Science, and of course many students from the Management School. Sheffield SIFE is part of an international organization, SIFE (for more info on SIFE please visit our About SIFE page), which is in over 1,500 Universities and 50 countries across the world. A SIFE teams aim is to teach others skills that will make a lasting difference in their own lives.
